We use Under the Nile adjustable velcro for night times- http://www.underthenile.com/underthenile/itemDetailBR126.htm
They seem to do the trick for our heavy wetter too. I totally know what you mean, though. When we run out of our "night time" diapers (we only have four), we have to put him in a disposable. We actually use a few disposable a week for hikes and long outings.
Cloth diapering is really popular in Seattle, which is great. It's nice to be able to talk to other moms about what works and what doesn't. I haven't ever used the pocket diapers. I'll have to give them a try.
