This Could be Bad

Frost warning in effect for the next couple of nights. I'm headed out of town tonight for a workshop. So we spent last night cleaning the tomato plants in the garden to save the fruit from getting frosted.

11 plants gave us this (the box on the left that is full is 13" tall):

Which equated to this when spread out across the floor in the office:

I've already canned 12 quarts of tomatoes. The amount of tomatoes I canned is comparable to the big box in the top picture (the one on the bottom right). I have 12 empty quart jars downstairs and the stores I normally buy them at are all out.

This could be bad. Very, very bad.

and my husband wants to plant a dozen tomato plants next year. I don't think he has a clue how many tomatoes a plant can produce.

Oh geez, Mandy. You are bringing back bad memories for me of the first year Adam and I planted tomatoes. We lived in a hot climate and the tomatoes grew wild next to a leaky pipe. Next thing I knew it was August and I was having day after day of super marathon canning sessions. My feet and back would ache from a day spent over boiling water, my hands hurt from peeling all those pounds and pounds and pounds of tomatoes. GOOD LUCK. (glad it's not me hee hee).

Holy bejezus...that's a lot of tomatoes! If I lived closer, I'd take a few off of your hands ;)

I have to learn how to can...nah, I'll just live in a box under the stairs if we go homeless.

This is me being super-jealous over here... I got a total of 5 tomatoes from my two plants! If we lived closer, you can be sure I'd be mooching some of those off you!

Jiminy Christmas Mandy! That is a lot of tomatoes! I hope you find some jars sweetie. Too bad you aren't closer, I have a ton in the garage cuz there is no canning for me the next couple of years.
